UHY and Stoy, Malone & Company Merge

UHY in Columbia, MD, announced a merger with Stoy, Malone & Company, PC, a full-service certified public accounting and business consulting firm founded in 1917 and based in Towson. The merger will be effective June 1, 2022.

Known for its professionalism and long-standing community ties, Stoy Malone provides a broad range of services to individuals, businesses, business owners, and non-profit organizations.

Founded by Clifford Stoy, his son John M. Stoy joined the firm in 1935 and James T. Malone joined the firm in 1938. In 1950, the firm’s name was changed to Stoy, Malone & Company. Stoy, Malone & Company’s most significant merger occurred in 1986 when the firm of Tarr & Scholl of Baltimore merged into the firm.

Joining UHY as a partner will be John B. Kincaid, Jr., CPA, a shareholder who has been with Stoy, Malone since 1988. Kincaid’s expertise includes audits of financial statements and other accounting and financial statement services as well as income taxation of small business and individuals. His clients are in wholesale distributing, auto dealerships, utility, real estate management, not-for-profits, medical, professional services and other industries.

Joining UHY as principals include Stoy Malone’s Vincent P. Nesline, CPA, Joyce T. O’Dwyer, CPA, CVA, and Janeen M. Armstrong, CPA.

Nesline joined the firm in 1983 and concentrates on closely held businesses and their owners, including multi-generational family businesses and professional service firms. He provides a wide range of services, including income and estate tax planning and compliance, business succession planning, and mergers and acquisitions. O’Dwyer joined the firm in 1986 and specializes in taxation of individuals, fiduciaries, and private foundations. She also prepares business valuations for gift and estate tax purposes. Armstrong joined Stoy Malone in 1993. Her primary areas of concentration include financial statement audit and accounting services. In addition, she provides tax and accounting services to a variety of clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to not-for-profit and private foundations.

UHY will continue to operate from Stoy Malone’s current location at 705 York Road in Towson.

The Stoy Malone merger is UHY’s second major merger in less than six months. In January, UHY completed a merger with TGM Group, a full-service certified public accounting firm based in Salisbury and serving the Mid-Atlantic region.
