Citybiz Interview with Will McFarland, President at Laser Line

After working as a technician for 13 years handling customer equipment issues and repairs, Will McFarland became increasingly intrigued by seeing the same thing over and over again. Customers were losing valuable time and money as a result of problems with laser printers due to neglect, proper cleaning and care.

“I saw the difficulties IT departments were having with technology and observed expenses that businesses were incurring with toner and office supplies that easily could have been avoided,” McFarland says.

He started out with a plan for a part-time business to sell and recycle supplies and quickly realized that there was a void for customer service because manufacturers were selling machines and customers were left to order supplies.

“I was able to connect the two sides because I had the understanding of the industry from a technical side as well as from the productivity side and it quickly evolved into the business that I have today,” explains McFarland.

Thirty years later, Laser Line continues to grow and is well established as a reliable local technology partner to more than 30,000 customers in the mid-Atlantic area. Laser Line has a fleet of over 15 vans so when companies need support, a technician will be at their doorstep within 4 hours with the parts, supplies and service they need.
