Kevin Pearson Elected Fellow of The American College of Tax Counsel

Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that tax attorney Kevin T. Pearson was elected a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC). Fellows are nominated for membership and undergo a rigorous screening process before being elected. New Fellows were introduced at the ACTC Fall Fellows’ Meeting on September 26, 2020.

Founded in 1981, the ACTC is a professional association of tax attorneys whose mission is to improve the U.S. tax system. Fellows of the College, whose numbers are limited to 700, comprise tax lawyers working in private law firms and in-house legal departments, teaching tax in law schools, or employed by federal or state revenue agencies. They are elected based on their extraordinary accomplishments and professional achievements and for their dedication to improving the practice of tax law.

“Being elected as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel is an honor and a privilege,” said Pearson. “I look forward to contributing to the College in years to come.”

Pearson focuses principally on federal income tax law, including both transactional matters and tax controversy matters. In his transactional practice, he regularly advises clients regarding all aspects of corporate taxation, including taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity offerings, and other corporate finance transactions, consolidated return issues, and general corporate tax issues, with a particular focus on renewable energy finance transactions. As part of his tax controversy practice, Pearson represents taxpayers in IRS audits and administrative appeals, deficiency litigation in the U.S. Tax Court, and refund litigation in U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Pearson is a partner in Stoel Rives and chair of the firm’s Executive Committee. He has been included in The Best Lawyers in America© in Tax Law since 2013.
