Think Systems’ Ed Mullin Named Influential Marylander by The Daily Record

Think Systems Inc., a privately owned technology and operations advisory firm that focuses on small and mid-market companies needing help with organizational solutions and strategic hiring, announced today that Ed Mullin, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, has been named as an Influential Marylander by The Daily Record.

The Daily Record’s Influential Marylander List honors leaders in Maryland who have made significant impacts in their field of work. These individuals are selected by The Daily Record’s editors for the contributions in civic leadership, communications, education, finance, health care, law, philanthropy, real estate, technology, and general business.

“We are thrilled with Ed’s nomination as an Influential Marylander,” said Tony Gruebl, Think’s founder and President. “We appreciate the Daily Record recognizing Ed and others in the Baltimore region who are having a positive impact in business and the broader society. Ed has not only distinguished himself as a leader in technology, but as someone who is focused on supporting at-risk students by introducing them to the fields of technology and robotics.”

Mullin distinguished himself during the pandemic launching several marketing initiatives that kept Think at the forefront of business conversations. He proposed a virtual “Whiskey Wednesdays” which became a major success connecting business leaders, entrepreneurs and experts in technology, project management, marketing, and other specialties.

In addition to virtual Whiskey Wednesdays, Mullin started a series of virtual events around Baltimore that included EdTech Maryland Meet Up, PM Underground, and BaltoMSDN. Mullin also launched TEPAN – Technology Executive Peer Advisory Network – which evolved from a lunch group to a peer network for technology executives.

“It is an honor to be named an Influential Marylander,” Mullin said. “While I have made a career advising companies on technology issues, my most valuable asset is my network of contacts. I use that network for good through my nonprofit efforts and to connect Think to talented individuals who will help our company continue on its successful path.”

In addition to his many business accomplishments, Mullin’s passion is working closely with at-risk students. He is the Executive Director of the Baltimore Robotics Center, which focuses on teaching students about robotics and STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics – with the goal of helping them earn college scholarships.

This past March, Mullin partnered with Baltimore Tracks and the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition to hold a virtual job fair to connect minority students with major corporations and state government agencies in the Baltimore region.

Mullin is the co-chair of the advisory board for Year Up Baltimore, an organization that aims to reduce the “opportunity divide” by providing urban young adults with skills and experiences that help them as they move into careers and higher education. Mullin also led an effort of Maryland tech firms to refurbish more than 1,000-used laptops and distribute them to families across Baltimore.
