Day Pitney Elevates Rachel Gonzalez, David Waizer to Business Unit Leadership Team

Day Pitney LLP announced today the appointment of two new leaders to its business unit leadership team, effective May 1.

Rachel A. Gonzalez (Partner, New Jersey) has been appointed the Business Unit Leader of the firm’s Employment and Labor Business Unit, succeeding Heather Weine Brochin. Gonzalez represents management in traditional labor law, employment counseling, and litigation. She regularly serves as a strategic advisor to clients on labor and employee relations issues, including union election campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, and arbitrations, as well as proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. She also counsels employers on internal investigations, a wide variety of workplace issues, and workforce planning during significant business changes, such as mergers, acquisitions, and plant relocations. Gonzalez has held several leadership roles within the firm, including for the last several years serving as chair/co-chair of the Hiring Committee and contributing to initiatives that support its growth and culture. Gonzalez earned her B.A. from Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and her J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.

David M. Waizer (Partner, New Jersey) has been appointed the Business Unit Leader of the firm’s Private Equity and Finance Business Unit, succeeding Namita Tripathi Shah. In his legal practice, Waizer represents venture capital funds, strategic investors, and emerging growth companies at all stages of the business lifecycle. Waizer’s practice focuses on venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. He has helped negotiate and close hundreds of venture financings, and his clients rely on him not only for legal advice, but also as a trusted advisor and connector within the startup ecosystem. Before becoming a partner at Day Pitney, Waizer served as a senior executive at both a venture capital firm and one of the fastest-growing venture-backed e-tailers, giving him a unique appreciation of the challenges entrepreneurs and investors face. In addition to his client work, he plays an active role in firm leadership, currently serving as chair of Day Pitney’s Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice group. He earned his B.S. from Yeshiva University and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.

“On behalf of the firm, I want to thank Heather and Namita for their outstanding leadership and the meaningful impact they have had within their respective business units and across the firm,” commented Gregory A. Hayes, managing partner of Day Pitney. “We are pleased to welcome Rachel and David into their new roles and are confident they will continue to advance the firm’s strategic vision while building upon the strong foundations established by their predecessors.”
