Strong Housing Market Means More Options for Linden Ponds’ Newest Residents

“Across the country, the housing market is experiencing very low inventory coupled with high demand for single family residences, says realtor Jennifer McCartin of Sotheby’s International Realty.

For those eager to sell their houses and move to Linden Ponds, the Erickson Senior Living community in Hingham, Mass, the timing couldn’t be better.

“People moving to Linden Ponds can expect activity to be quick, with typically a lot of people wanting to view their home,” says McCartin, one of the community’s preferred realtors. “Recently we have seen correctly priced homes going under contract in less than a week, often with multiple offers and above the asking price.”

For Steve and Joan Feist, who moved to Linden Ponds in late summer 2019, the dynamic combination of a hot seller’s market and McCartin’s real estate expertise, resulted in rapid home sale.

“Once we made the decision to move in May 2019, I remember thinking that we had missed the traditionally strong spring/summer selling season,” says Steve. “Fortunately, I was wrong. We discovered that the housing market is hot and that seasonality doesn’t matter.”

The first step in making the couple’s move a reality was a home visit from Lynne Smithson-Ford, Linden Ponds’ personal moving consultant. Working with new residents moving to the community, Smithson-Ford and her team of highly respected, vetted preferred vendors, work directly with new residents to sell their home, downsize, pack, and move.

“She was very helpful, coming to our house to talk us through the process,” says Joan. “It was during that meeting she recommended realtor Jennifer McCartin.”

“We scheduled a meeting with Jennifer and after that meeting had no reservations about working with her,” says Steve. “She is wonderful. In fact, she is the best realtor we’ve ever had – and we’ve made four previous moves. For instance, we planned on making some upgrades to our house in order to prepare it for sale. One of the wonderful things about Jennifer is that she told us not to waste our money. She felt strongly that we could successfully sell our house ‘as is.’”

And the advice paid off.

Within 48 hours after listing their Falmouth, Ma. home on the market almost twenty people visited the property.

“We had multiple offers on the Feist’s property and we were able to choose the offer from the buyer that was best for them,” says McCartin. “Joan and Steve were very realistic about the price of their home and, as a result, received offers above the asking price.”

With the sale of their house complete, the Feist’s turned their attention to downsizing and moving, all with the help of Smithson-Ford and her team.

“We are grateful for all the help, and everyone was wonderful to work with,” says Steve. “After 32 years in our house, we were ready for this new adventure, and Lynne and Jennifer were instrumental in making that happen.”

“Yes, we are very happy, very content,” says Joan. “Since our move, we never looked back. In fact, we often say to ourselves – why didn’t we move sooner.”
