Horton’s Kids, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to empowering children in underserved neighborhoods in Southeast D.C., is asking D.C. residents to donate food, personal hygiene and cleaning products to the organization’s Stock the Shelves spring campaign, running now until April 12.
Stock the Shelves is part of the organization’s efforts to prepare for the grand opening of its newest distribution center, which will provide families with critical necessities including food, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies.
With 37% of DC area households facing food insecurity, local families are facing impossible choices between food and other necessities like rent, childcare, and medical care. As prices continue to rise, more families are turning to Horton’s Kids for help.
Here’s how to support the campaign:
- Shop from the Amazon Wish List: Items purchased will be shipped directly to the Horton’s Kids Hub.
- Host a Collection Drive: Gather essential items at your workplace, school, or home, and drop-off all donations at 2233 Hunter Place SE, Washington, D.C. All donations must be received by April 12.
