Cherokee Classical Academy to Open August 2025 for Grades K-6; Enrollment Application and Job Postings Now Available

Cherokee Classical Academy (CCA), originally set to open next fall for the 2026-2027 school year, will now open in fall 2025. CCA is a tuition-free public charter school serving residents of Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Pickens, and Paulding counties and the cities of Marietta, Cartersville, and Atlanta. Located at 2126 Sixes Road in Canton, the school will open for grades K-6 this fall and add a grade each year until it reaches its full K-12 configuration.

CCA is now accepting enrollment applications and recruiting for all employment positions. Enrollment in the school is non-selective and will be determined by a lottery system. Any student is eligible to apply, but students who are offered seats must live in the attendance zone to attend. The enrollment application is open now through March 28, and the lottery will be held on March 31. Prospective families and employees should visit the school website to learn more.

CCA is part of the Liberty Classical Schools (Liberty) network along with Atlanta Classical Academy in Atlanta and Northwest Classical Academy in Kennesaw. Georgia’s State Charter School Commission approved CCA’s charter contract last August.

“Liberty is excited to launch Cherokee Classical Academy, which will offer families in the community a classical education option focused on forming knowledgeable, virtuous citizens,” said Dr. Matthew Stone, director of new schools at Liberty. “We are grateful for the relationships we have already established in this community and look forward to strengthening our partnerships in the months and years ahead.”

CCA’s mission is to develop students in mind and character through a content-rich, American classical curriculum that emphasizes the principles of virtuous living, traditional learning, and civic responsibilities. Classrooms will be distraction-free, with limited technology use and a strict “no cell phone” policy. The school will offer a rigorous curriculum in a smaller, supportive environment anchored by a culture of moral virtue, mutual respect, discipline, and studiousness among both students and the faculty. Over time, CCA will develop robust offerings of athletics, fine arts, and extracurricular activities that teach skills, build community, and cultivate character.

“Liberty’s passion is to help parents raise knowledgeable, upright young adults who are prepared to flourish,” said Matthew Kirby, CEO of Liberty Classical Schools. “We are eager to hire kind-hearted teachers who will teach and model virtuous living and the pursuit of intellectual and personal achievement.”
