Baltimore-based WPM Real Estate Management (WPM) announced today that Christopher Merrill, an experienced real estate attorney, has joined the company as its in-house Senior Legal Counsel. This move reflects WPM’s ongoing commitment to providing clients with timely, efficient, and cost-effective legal services.
Merrill has worked closely with WPM for several years as outside counsel, supporting the legal needs of its clients. In his new role, he will continue to provide many of the same legal services directly under the WPM umbrella, enhancing accessibility and ensuring the company is well-prepared to navigate the complexities of an ever-evolving legal landscape. Adding in-house counsel to its leadership team further strengthens WPM’s position as a leader in the property management industry, delivering a unique combination of legal expertise, proactive service, and client value. WPM will also continue to collaborate with outside firms for specialized matters, ensuring a comprehensive and adaptable approach to meeting clients’ legal needs.
“Having Chris join our team as in-house counsel is a significant win for WPM and our clients,” said WPM CEO James Dahlgren, Jr. “His proven track record and intimate understanding of our properties, their operations, and the challenges our clients face mean he can deliver timely, effective solutions that align with our commitment to excellence. We are thrilled to have him join the team.”
Merrill’s expertise spans a wide range of real estate matters, including landlord/tenant, compliance with Fair Housing regulations, civil litigation, real estate transactions, and community association governance. As both a real estate investor and a licensed broker, Merrill brings a practical, results-driven perspective to his work.
“I have worked with many management companies throughout my career, and WPM has always stood out to me for the value it provides to its clients,” said Merrill. “I am honored to join the team and look forward to working directly with WPM and its clients to deliver timely, practical, and efficient legal solutions tailored to the specific needs of each property.”
Merrill earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and his B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting from McDaniel College. Prior to joining WPM, he held positions at prominent Maryland law firms, where he advised and represented owners and managers of residential and commercial real estate. He is an active member of the Maryland Multi-Housing Association, where he has taught Fair Housing courses and served on the legislative committee.
