Helmsley Spear, LLC, America’s oldest continuously operating real estate company founded in 1866, is pleased to announce the hiring of Frederick Kane “Rick” Marek to serve as Vice Chairman. Mr. Marek will focus primarily on tenant representation.

Prior to Joining Helmsley Spear, LLC and after a short tenure with Avison Young, Mr Marek served as the President and Co-Founder of The Vortex Group, a boutique commercial real estate advisory company, for 15 years. He began his career at Julien J. Studley, Inc., starting at the age of 21, right after earning an MBA from Syracuse University. During his career he has completed numerous major assignments for prominent companies including Credit Suisse, Lazard Freres, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP and numerous others.
“I had the pleasure of working with Rick many years ago, and have served on the Plaza Committee of The Real Estate Board of New York with him, which he ran for 22 years,” said Andrew G. Simon, Executive Managing Director of Helmsley Spear who runs the brokerage arm of the company for Mr. Swig. “Rick has an encyclopedic knowledge of the NYC commercial market and will fit right in with the other senior brokers we have brought on board over the past year as we build the company back into prominence,” added Mr. Simon.
