Forbes Names Kennedy Krieger Among Top Ten Maryland Employers

Kennedy Krieger Institute, a globally recognized organization dedicated to improving the lives of patients with, or at risk for, disorders and injuries of the nervous system, has been named one of Forbes’ best employers in Maryland for 2024.

Kennedy Krieger is ranked as the 10th best employer in Maryland on Forbes’ list, which recognizes top workplaces based in each state. The Institute employs nearly 3,000 people. Together, they provide medical, therapeutic, educational, research, and community services to more than 27,000 patients and students annually.

“Being recognized as one of Maryland’s top employers is a true representation of the dedication and passion our 3,000 team members bring to their work, to our patients and students, and to one another,” said Dr. Brad Schlaggar, MD, PhD, President and CEO of Kennedy Krieger Institute. “As a mission-driven organization, we strive to create a welcoming, inclusive, and diverse workplace where every team member is valued for their contributions. This recognition highlights that commitment.”

The Forbes ranking, America’s Best Employers by State, is based on a survey of over 160,000 employees from organizations across the country. Participants rated their employers on a scale of zero to 10 and were asked whether they would recommend their workplace to others. They also evaluated other employers within their industry.

“This honor reflects the shared values and commitment of everyone at Kennedy Krieger. We are not just colleagues; we’re a community united by our mission and dedication to making a difference,” said Raymond Short, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Kennedy Krieger.

Forbes has also previously recognized Kennedy Krieger as the top scoring midsize employer in Maryland and 47th among all midsize employers in the United States.

Companies do not pay a fee to participate or be selected in any of Forbes’ rankings.
