SafeSpace, the Treasure Coast-based nonprofit organization committed to helping survivors of domestic violence, has announced its Second Annual Amethyst Gala. The Amethyst Gala will take place on Friday, October 18 at Tesoro Club, the Treasure Coast’s premier golf club community nestled along the St. Lucie River. Tesoro Club is the site of many of the Treasure Coast’s charity events.
SafeSpace’s mission is to empower individuals and communities to achieve safety and freedom from domestic violence. Domestic abuse statistics in the U.S. are staggering. For example, one in three women and one in four men have experienced some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Further, four women lose their lives to domestic violence each day. Every year, over 12 million people are affected by intimate partner violence, and over 15 million children are exposed to domestic violence. SafeSpace works diligently to reverse these statistics.
The event co-chairs are Tesoro Club members and homeowners Emmelis and Ernesto Keaney. It is their second year co-chairing the event. “SafeSpace is dear to our hearts. They truly do God’s work on earth, playing a critical role in saving the lives of women, men and children of the Treasure Coast. The Amethyst Gala helps bring awareness and raises crucial funds that will help keep the doors open for many more years,” said Emmelis Keaney.
“We are proud to serve, once again, as the venue for such an important event, because Emmelis and Ernesto’s unwavering dedication to SafeSpace is reflective of Tesoro Club’s relentless desire to build a stronger community both within and beyond its walls,” said Tesoro Club Managing Partner, Timothy Jones. “This is truly the most rewarding part of the work we do.”
At this year’s Amethyst Gala, SafeSpace and its supporters will celebrate 45 years of dedicated service in addressing domestic violence. Since its inception, SafeSpace has provided over 500,000 safe nights of shelter to more than 40,000 victims and children on the Treasure Coast. The nonprofit has also created financial and personal safety plans for hundreds of victims, provided legal counsel to over 450 survivors, and served nearly 1,500 children through its specialized children’s programming. Donations and profits from the Amethyst Gala will help ensure that SafeSpace remains a beacon of hope and a vital resource for those in need.
The event will include a seated dinner, cocktail reception with silent auction, and entertainment. The event starts at 6 p.m. and is cocktail attire. Individual tickets for the Amethyst Gala are $250, and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
