FOVNDRY Receives PRSA-Maryland Award Of Excellence

FOVNDRY, a Maryland-based integrated communications agency specializing in public relationsmarketing and creative services, is honored to receive an Award of Excellence – Public Affairs Campaign from the Public Relations Society of Maryland (PRSA-Maryland). The 2024 award is for FOVNDRY’s public affairs support of the Fair Access Committee’s goal to secure approvals for a new community center located in Western Montgomery County, Maryland.

“This award is highly satisfying because the Town of Poolesville’s Fair Access Committee is a true team partner with FOVNDRY,” commented Laura Van Eperen, FOVNDRY founder.  “We won this award together because of our shared commitment to ensure facts and critical information created the compelling case for support of the new community center.”

Stakeholders received poignant messaging about the need for the community center via a white paper, social media posts, earned media, video content, an economic forum, and briefings. The educational, shareable materials (digital and print) were regularly used across the committee’s digital channels, with media, at events and speaking/briefing opportunities. The County Council and the County Executive approved funding for the new community center in the FY 25 Capital Budget and FY 25–30 Capital Improvements Program.

Fair Access Committee Chairman Link Hoewing added, “We are thankful for the partnership we have with FOVNDRY to help us inform the public and other key stakeholders about our priorities like the Community/Rec Center. Our mission at Fair Access is to raise the profile of our community and educate our leaders so they understand the inequities that exist out here. That requires good media outreach, and constant communications with leaders and FOVNDRY’s connections have been invaluable in this process.”

In 2022, the Fair Access Committee identified the necessity for the region’s first county Community Center as a hub for health, wellness, and education services. It began working to educate stakeholders about the need for this part of the county, which was the only area without a county-operated community center.

“Congratulations to the Fair Access Committee and the FOVNDRY team for your compelling and meaningful communications, which have translated into an approved, new community center for Western Montgomery County, Maryland,” said Megan Neapolitan, FOVNDRY president.
