Sean Demeule Appointed As General Manager For Hollywood Casino At Charles Town Races

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, a property of PENN Entertainment, today announced the appointment of Sean Demeule as its new general manager. He assumes this role succeeding Scott Saunders, who retired in March. Demeule, a native of the region who grew up outside of Baltimore, brings more than 17 years of experience in the gaming industry, serving in various leadership positions. Previously, he was the general manager at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Black Hawk, Colorado for more than nine years.

In his new role, Demeule will oversee operations at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia, as well as supervise Hollywood Casino Perryville in Maryland. He will focus on driving growth, enhancing customer engagement, and optimizing operational efficiency for both PENN Entertainment properties.

“Our goal has always been to have each well-earned retirement create a well-earned promotion,” said Todd George, executive vice president & head of operations at PENN Entertainment. “Our commitment to developing bench strength has served us well over the years, and Sean is the latest example as he moves into his new role after making tremendous contributions while in the other positions he has held.”

Demeule began his gaming industry work in Elizabeth, Indiana as the director of marketing for Horseshoe Southern Indiana, providing leadership and overseeing marketing initiatives to drive growth and customer engagement. He then served as director of marketing for Boomtown Casino in Bossier City, Louisiana from 2008 to 2011. In 2011, he transitioned to L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he held positions as vice president of finance and assistant general manager for more than three years. He has also served as president of the Colorado Gaming Association.

“Coming back to the region near where I grew up is exciting for me and for my family.” said Sean Demeule. “I am looking forward to continuing and growing our casino’s great work as a community partner.”

A West Point graduate, Demeule served in the U.S. Army from 1995 to 2004, achieving the rank of captain and serving as an aviation officer and Apache helicopter pilot. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Business Administration from Duke University, and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
