Registration is now open for series’ Season 12 taping event in October
Maryland Public Television (MPT) celebrates one of its long-running series in June with Chesapeake Collectibles: Behind the Scenes, a program that takes viewers on an exclusive journey to meet the appraisers, producers, and guests who bring the show to life. The documentary premieres on MPT-HD on Monday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m., with an encore broadcast on MPT2 on Saturday, June 15th at 7:30 p.m.
Discover the story behind the creation of the series, revisit unforgettable highlights, and witness preparations for Season 11, recorded in June 2023 at MPT’s Irene and Edward H. Kaplan Production Studio in Owings Mills, Maryland. Hosted by longtime series appraiser Robert Harrison, this one-hour special offers a look at the magic that has made Chesapeake Collectibles an MPT viewer favorite.
Chesapeake Collectibles: Behind The Scenes is a co-production of Second Story Books and Maryland Public Television.
For more than a decade, Chesapeake Collectibles has entertained, surprised, and enlightened MPT viewers. Each season, guests meet with expert appraisers to learn more about their family heirlooms, flea market finds, and cherished collectibles. The most interesting items and stories are selected for evaluation in front of the cameras, resulting in priceless TV moments as guests share their tales, learn about the items, and receive an answer to that all-important question: how much is this worth?
Chesapeake Collectibles’ episodes are broadcast on MPT-HD and available on the MPT livestream on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. immediately preceding the acclaimed PBS series Antiques Roadshow. Viewers can also watch episodes of the series anytime from their TVs or mobile devices on MPT’s online video player and the free PBS App.
Season 12 taping event registration is now open
The hunt is on throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for cultural curiosities, classic toys and posters, rare books and manuscripts, and troves of sports, military, music, and heirloom wonders.
MPT is inviting memorabilia and antiques fans back to its Owings Mills studio to share the stories of their prized possessions during a two-day taping event on October 5 and 6 for the 12th season of the popular weekly series. Season 12 of Chesapeake Collectibles is scheduled to premiere on MPT in 2025.
Paid registration is required to attend the event and includes verbal evaluations of up to three items by a team of expert appraisers. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated because of studio occupancy limits. Some items and their owners may be chosen to appear on the series. Information, including attendance details, is available online HERE. The registration period continues through September 20.
In 2023, nearly 1,000 people from across the region brought their cherished collectibles to MPT to have them evaluated during the two-day taping of the series 11th season.
