Goldberg Segalla Partner Peter Biging Joins International Association of Defense Counsel

The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has announced that Peter J. Biging, a partner and co-chair of the Management & Professional Liability Practice Group at Goldberg Segalla in New York City, has accepted an invitation to join the IADC, the preeminent invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.

“Being invited to become a member of the IADC is something I view as a great honor,” Mr. Biging said. “I know that membership in an invitation only, peer reviewed organization such as IADC is going to bring me into contact with true leaders in the defense counsel community, and in my case in the area of professional liability and employment practices litigation. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to connect with both fellow defense counsel who have excelled in the field, and insurance claims executives who expect and demand excellence from the defense counsel they work with.”

Mr. Biging focuses his practice on the defense of directors and officers against claims alleging fraud, negligence and breach of fiduciary duties, as well as a variety of professionals against claims based on alleged errors or omissions in the performance of their professional services. He also regularly litigates labor and employment practices claims, commercial disputes, and municipal liability claims premised on alleged civil rights and constitutional violations.

Mr. Biging currently serves as president-elect of the Professional Liability Defense Federation. He also serves in numerous capacities with the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS). His TIPS involvements include serving as editor in chief of the TIPS flagship magazine The Brief, a member of the SCOPE committee, the TIPS liaison to the ABA’s Standing Committee on Lawyer’s Professional Liability, and a vice chair of the Professional Liability Insurance Committee (which he previously chaired for two years). In addition, he will begin a term as a member of the TIPS General Council in August. Mr. Biging also is involved with the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, for which he hosts a podcast, The Precipice, devoted to discussions with industry leaders about what’s coming next in professional liability.

Mr. Biging earned his J.D. from Fordham University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from Queens College, City University of New York.
