NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions (NHS; www.nhsmass.org), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, will hold its 25th Annual Mulligan Golf Tournament for Veterans who need a home at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton on Friday, June 14, beginning at 8 a.m.
The Mulligan (a second chance for homeless vets) will support the NHS’s Veterans Fund , which provides resources and assistance to veterans and their families in NHS housing, including supportive services, case management, and counseling. This event has become a hallmark for NHS and helps bring attention to and awareness of the needs of veterans in our community. Over the past 25 years, the event has grown from a small committee-run event to a sold-out event that raises nearly $100,000 for veterans and their families.
John Curtis and Curtis Construction Co., who are based in Stoughton, will serve as the lead “Tips” Sponsor again this year. Curtis Construction has continued to sponsor at the leadership level for several years and has contributed significantly with their time and through their philanthropy to support NHS. Many of the Mulligan sponsors have come back year over year to support the tournament, and over the past 25 years the number of sponsors has grown.
“I know how important the nonprofit community is, “said John Curtis, president of Curtis Construction. “NHS does so much to help serve very vulnerable people in the area where I live and have my business. If NHS were not here, I often wonder what would happen to the people they help.”
The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. with the national anthem. The golfers will enjoy 18 holes of golf and also have the opportunity to participate in games, prizes, and fun throughout the course. The event will conclude with drinks at the 19th Hole sponsored by Colonial Federal Savings Bank, and lunch, raffles and a compelling program will conclude the event.
In addition to Curtis Construction, other notable sponsors have made significant commitments in support of the tournament, including Atlantic Mechanical Contractors, Dedham Savings, Eastern Bank, Hackett Feinberg, P.C., Klein Hornig LLP, and South Shore Bank all at the “Sweet Spot” level.
