The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami Spring Class 45 Group 3 – also known as the Trailblaz3rs – is thrilled to announce the grand opening of a community garden at Camillus House’s Verde Gardens in Homestead. The permanent supportive housing community provides shelter and social services to 145 formerly homeless families. Trailblaz3rs team members volunteered their time and resources to build the community garden to benefit some of the most vulnerable in our community.
Join us to celebrate the grand opening on May 22nd at 10 am at Verde Gardens, at 12550 SW 282nd St, Homestead, FL 33033.
Camillus House, a nonprofit that has provided life-changing services to the poor and homeless for more than six decades in Miami-Dade County, joins hands with the TrailBlaz3rs to unveil this transformative project aimed at fostering community, sustainability, and well-being. Thanks to their vision and passion, the new community garden will provide fresh herbs and vegetables, as well as gardening and sustainability education, to the Verde Gardens residents. The community garden will also be available for the residents of neighboring Mother Seton Village and Chapman Partnership nearby.
“We’re truly appreciative of these young leaders’ contribution to enhancing the quality of life of Camillus House residents,” said Camillus House Acting CEO Eddie Gloria. “The new community garden stands as a collective commitment to holistic community revitalization and empowerment. The Trailblaz3rs’ energy and creativity are key to finding solutions for the challenges our community faces in the short- and long-term. With these leaders’ drive and determination, the future of Greater Miami shines even brighter.”
“As a team, we are deeply dedicated to creating positive change in Greater Miami. Through education and access to healthy, homegrown food, we aim to cultivate a brighter, more sustainable future for the residents of Verde Gardens,” according to Trailblaz3rs team members.
