–EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR CAREGIVERS, PROFESSIONALS AND THOSE AFFECTED BY DEMENTIA-RELATED DISEASES-
The Area Agency on Aging of Broward County (AAABC), in partnership with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs Broward County Dementia Care & Cure Initiative Task Force, will hold its annual Empowering Caregivers Conference on May 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lillian S. Wells Hall at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The conference will focus on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia catered to patients, caregivers and professionals. Free registration is available for Broward seniors and caregivers.
“Building on the success of our inaugural conference, we’re excited to continue to empower caregivers in Broward County,” states Charlotte Mather-Taylor, CEO of AAABC. “This event is a vital platform for education, support and community building around Alzheimer’s and dementia care.”
The event will feature presentations on current research and advancements in Alzheimer’s and dementia-related illnesses, as well as resources and best practices for caring for those affected. Attendees will be provided with a complimentary lunch sponsored by Humana and gift bags.
The conference panel topics include Caregiver Support, Best Financial & Legal Practices for Caregivers to Protect Their Loved Ones; The Continuum of Services Available to Caregivers and Individuals with Dementia and Alzheimer’s; Chronic Disease Management – How to identify signs and symptoms in your loved one; Recent Advances in Alzheimer’s Care, Early Detection & Treatment. The Keynote Speaker will be Michelle Branham, Secretary of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
