GFP Real Estate, LLC is pleased to announce that Physicians for Human Rights, a nonprofit founded in 1986 that “uses science and the uniquely credible voices of medical professionals to document and call attention to severe human rights violations around the world,” has signed a new 10-year lease for 5,527 square feet on the 23rd floor of 520 Eighth Ave. in the Garment District.
Stephan Steiner of Savills US represented the tenant, Physicians for Human Rights, in the transaction; Matthew Mandell of GFP Real Estate represented the landlord, GFP Real Estate. Physicians for Human Rights will use the space for its general and executive offices; terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Now that the pandemic is behind us, major nonprofit organizations have a clear sense of how they plan to operate moving forward and how much space they need to support their mission,” said Mandell. “520 Eighth Ave. attracts nonprofits like Physicians for Human Rights, ASPCA and Self-Help due to its convenient location in Midtown and close proximity to major transportation.”
Built in 1926, the 26-story office tower comprises more than 860,000 square feet in New York City’s famed Fashion District near Hudson Yards, Herald Square, Times Square, Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. The building is in close proximity to the Port Authority bus terminal and provides convenient access to numerous transportation lines, including the A, C, E, 1, 2, and 3 trains, as well as the Amtrak, LIRR and NJ Transit lines.
