Katie Remenapp Joins Irvine Nature Center as Director of Development

Katie Remenapp joins Irvine Nature Center on Monday, April 22, Earth Day, as Director of Development. Katie is joining the 49-year-old organization in an important leadership position at a pivotal time.

Katie has extensive experience and successful track record in non-profit fundraising, most recently in senior leadership at the American Heart Association, holding a B.S. from Stevenson University and a M.A. from Johns Hopkins University. Befitting Irvine, Katie will start on EARTH DAY, returning to the site of her first college internship while a student across the street at Stevenson University. During her interview, Katie mentioned how she had always hoped to return and help fulfill Irvine’s mission of providing environmental education and access to nature for our community

Katie will lead Irvine Nature Center’s Development Department which is responsible for supporting nearly half the non-profit’s annual operating budget through memberships, individual giving, corporate sponsorship, grants, and special events. In addition, Katie will work with Irvine’s Executive Director and Board of Trustees to complete funding for planned capital improvements and expansion to meet the community’s growing need for environmental education.

Irvine Nature Center is the largest independent non-profit nature center in the region. A leader in environmental education for children and adults, Irvine offers hundreds of programs annually and is the home to over 50 animal ambassadors. Located in Owings Mills, its 211-acre campus features woodlands, wetlands, and meadows, and is the home of The Nature Preschool, Earth Friends Homeschool, and Summer Nature Camp.

Katie, a Baltimore native, lives with her husband, two children, and three fur babies in Middle River. A former collegiate athlete, Katie loves to play soccer, enjoys cooking and baking, practicing yoga, and time spent outside.
