Maris Grove Hosts Earth Day Festival

Maris Grove, an Erickson Senior Living-managed community in Glen Mills, Pa., celebrated Earth Day with a vibrant festival on April 21 and 22, showcasing a commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability.

The festivities kicked off on Sunday, April 21, with a lively performance by Maris Grove’s talented ‘Stringers and Singers’ at the Cardinal Clubhouse. Attendees were treated to engaging exhibits, an inspiring art show, and a lively Circle Dance session. Distinguished speakers, including Alden Meyer from E3G and Rebecca Yurkowitz from the Delaware Sustainability Council, shared insights and initiatives aimed at fostering environmental stewardship.

Monday, April 22, was brimming with informative sessions for residents. Attendees learned about the community’s recycling efforts, explored the wonders of the Ashland Butterfly House, and discovered the health benefits of a plant-based diet for both individuals and the planet. The day also featured a  sing-along with Jim Ritchie and a rejuvenating workshop on breathing practices tailored to optimize health amidst a changing climate.

The Green Team, spearheaded by residents Frank Altrichter and Mickey Meyer, organized the festival. As a sub-committee of the Resident Advisory Council (RAC) – General Services Committee, the Green Team (Sustainability Committee) collaborates closely with the Maris Grove administration to champion social sustainability initiatives and promote environmental stewardship programs and events.
