Michael J. Houde Joins Law Firm Goodell DeVries

Goodell DeVries is pleased to welcome new associate Michael J. Houde to the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Product Liability teams. 

Michael is an experienced litigator who has defended national casualty and liability insurers in trials at the District and Circuit Court levels across Maryland. He has also defended major regional and national corporations in the Circuit Court of Baltimore City’s extensive asbestos docket in cases dating back to the mid-nineteen-eighties. He has also represented employers and insurers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims before the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, on appeal in courts throughout Maryland, and before the Appellate Court of Maryland and the Supreme Court of Maryland.

Michael previously practiced at a Washington, D.C., law firm, where he represented independent hospitals and hospital systems in Maryland and D.C. in proceedings before the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings. He also advised those clients in complex insurance and jurisdictional disputes and regulatory compliance matters.

Michael was named a Rising Star in the 2024 edition of Maryland Super Lawyers.

He earned his law degree at the University of Maine School of Law (J.D., 2017). Before that, he attended the University of Mississippi (B.A., 2014) and played on the school’s ACHA Ice Hockey team from 2010-2012.
