Having given hope to numerous restaurants over the past twenty five years, Carron brings the same level of attention to his own steakhouse, housed in Reading’s historic Post Office Building.
Chef Jason Carron and team is excited to announce the grand opening of Post 1917 – a steakhouse that integrates classic steakhouse with contemporary fashion. Opening to the public this weekend, the restaurant’s menu is focused around carefully selected USDA Prime Cuts of beef from Brandt Farms, along with other steakhouse classics and inventive new additions. Ingredients will be sourced from local purveyors and desserts and bread will be made in-house. Every ingredient reflects Carron’s ability to innovate the plate with not only something aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly delicious.
Located within the historic Post Office Building at 136 Haven Street, the former home of Reading’s century-old post office, Post 1917 merges city vibes with local charm. The space features Italian cypress trees decorating the archways that separate the elegant dining room from the inviting 40-seat bar, boasting beautiful quartz countertops.
Outside, the spacious patio set to open Memorial Day weekend, comfortably hosts 50 people and features Reading’s only outdoor bar. From Thursday through Saturday, restaurant goers can listen to live music on the patio while enjoying delicious food and beverages al fresco.
With over two decades of transforming restaurants and igniting culinary passion across New England through his specialist hospitality consulting firm, Avery Restaurant Consulting, Jason Caron brings his attention to detail and innovation to his own steakhouse. He has also helped clients win numerous accolades including the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2014, and as of late, the distinguished Dirona Award. As chef and owner of Post 1917, Carron has curated a team of culinary experts from restaurants all over Massachusetts to help him deliver an unparalleled dining experience.
“Post 1917 represents more than just a steakhouse; it’s a testament to our dedication to bring people together and redefine the modern dining experience,” said Jason Carron. “I credit my wife, Lori Haverty, for her outstanding design work and invaluable contribution to bringing our vision to such beautiful fruition. Reading has been missing a destination that blends local charm with innovative cuisine, and we hope to fill that void with Post 1917’s unique blend of historic ambiance, locally-sourced ingredients, and culinary expertise.” The restaurant was brought to life by Haverty’s vision and the detailed work of J Richard Builders. “When you are able to share your vision and trust that someone sees it through the same lens as you is rare. Joe Richard listened and created this beautiful space, and to him we are very grateful.”
The kitchen at Post 1917 is open Tuesday through Saturday at 5:00 pm. Upon opening, a special menu will be available on the Patio beginning at 11:30.
