David Nevins Interviews Steven Eigenbrot, Director of Athletics, Towson University

Dr. Steven Eigenbrot has served as Towson University‘s Director of Athletics since March 2022. Eigenbrot joined TU from the University of South Carolina, where he served as the Deputy Athletics Director.

As Director of Athletics, Eigenbrot reports directly to the President of Towson University, serving on the President’s Cabinet and leading TU’s NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program, including the approximately 100 staff members who support 19 sports teams with more than 600 student-athletes.

At the University of South Carolina, Eigenbrot served in various leadership roles over 12 years. Most recently, he served as Deputy Director of Athletics, overseeing fundraising, ticketing and a variety of facilities projects. Prior to that, he was Executive Associate Athletics Director for Development and CEO of the Gamecock Club, which raised funds to support student-athletes. He was the primary administrator for men’s basketball, baseball and both Gamecock golf programs from 2019-22.

Prior to South Carolina, Eigenbrot directed the annual fund for University of Nevada-Las Vegas Athletics. He holds a doctorate in higher education leadership from UNLV, a masters in sport administration and business administration from Ohio University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. He was born in Bethlehem, PA and went to high school in Southern New Jersey.

David has chaired the Maryland Public Broadcasting Commission and the Maryland Higher Education Loan Corporation, served as President of both the Jewish National Fund and the Towson Business Association and was a member of the PNC Bank board.
