KRCL Announces the Retirement of Director Marcy Rothman

Kane Russell Coleman Logan PC (KRCL) announced Marcy Rothman’s retirement from law firm life after more than 13 years of dedicated service to the Firm. Rothman will depart at the end of May.

“As the first female shareholder, Marcy has served in several leadership roles, and made tremendous contributions to the Firm,” said Raymond Kane, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Marcy has been an amazing partner and will be greatly missed.”

“After many years of practice, I felt now was the right time for me to step back,” said Rothman. “We have built a significant practice with tremendously loyal clients and an entire team of directors, associates, and support staff who are fully committed to the Firm and our Firm’s superb clients. We have built relationships that will stand the test of time and illustrate one of the things that KRCL does best: legacy planning to ensure long-term representation of the highest quality for our clients, and significant opportunity for advancement for our attorneys and other personnel. Our next generation is poised and ready to step into leadership to continue what we have developed together. I will remain a friend of the Firm and a mentor to its legal professionals. I am proud of our accomplishments and deeply grateful for my time at the Firm. I have had a wonderful run here, and I look forward to watching the Firm’s continued success for many years to come.”

Rothman has a reputation as an experienced and capable lead trial lawyer who has spent over 35 years representing mid-market and Fortune 500 companies. Rothman went on to state, “I have been a partner at several of the best law firms in Texas and one BigLaw firm, and there is a very specific reason I decided to spend the last thirteen years of my law firm life at Kane Russell Coleman Logan. It has been the finest law firm of my career.”

In anticipation of her departure, Rothman and the Firm have implemented a comprehensive transition plan with her dedicated KRCL team to ensure the seamless continuation of service for her esteemed clients. Her legacy plan will further solidify KRCL’s position as a leader in railroad, transportation, general liability, insurance coverage, and emergency response legal services.

Rothman’s career began in the 1980s at one of the historic Beaumont, Texas law firms. At that time, the area accounted for a significant portion of the world’s refining capacity and much of the industrial litigation. She was one of the very few women working in the oil and gas fields, refineries, plants, rail yards, shipyards, truck terminals, and ports. This diverse experience equipped her to handle virtually every type of matter conceivable in the arena of heavy industry.

During her tenure at KRCL, Rothman led the Firm’s emergency response, railroad and transportation practices. She has also led the Firm’s representation of clients in other areas of general litigation. Marcy served on the Board of Directors for several years, on the Firm’s first Executive Committee, and as Managing Director of KRCL’s Houston office. The Firm looks forward to her next steps, which will include activity in the business community.
