ASTRAEA FOR ANXIOUS SAVERS, RESILIENT WOMEN, AND LGBTQ+ INVESTORS

Laura Corbiani, CFP®, founder of Astraea, a full-service investment advisory firm, has joined Equita as the newest member firm. The firm, which just launched, plans to integrate financial planning, investment management, and coaching for resilient women, anxious savers, and the LGBTQ+ community.

“The launch of another women-owned advisory firm reflects a positive trend in the industry, adding to the reduction of the gender gap in financial services,” said Bridget Venus Grimes, CFP®, co-founder of Equita. “Equita is thrilled to help Laura grow a successful firm. We have watched other women on our platform do just this and their growth has been remarkable.”

Corbiani plans to focus on resilient humans who desire to be seen for who they are, not the value of their investment accounts. Astraea is named after the Greek goddess of justice, purity, and precision. The story says that when humanity was falling, the goddess was the last of the immortals to stay with them in their darkest hours. Corbiani can relate to this story and hopes to keep others from experiencing their darkest hour.

“I’m very excited to be starting this firm, and would not have been able to do it as well without the support of the Equita network and other women CFP® professionals who have stepped up and encouraged me to take the leap,” stated Corbiani. “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to build this human-first focused financial planning firm, with the mission to have the financial planning experience be welcoming and judgement-free..”

Astraea specializes in working with high-achieving women who work in male-dominated fields, women who have navigated solo, either by choice or due to divorce or death of a spouse or significant other, and anyone who has felt anxious around their savings, and seek validation in their diligence. Corbiani also hosts small groups of women who want to ask any financial questions in a safe space, both virtually and in-person in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Syracuse, New York.

ABOUT EQUITA FINANCIAL NETWORK

Equita Financial Network (Equita) provides a signature platform that includes all the necessary resources to run a comprehensive financial planning and investment management firm. In addition to providing proven resources, Equita also provides a powerful community of support for women-led, independently operated, fee-only financial planning firms.

Equita is an SEC Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) that allows Member firms to conduct business as a DBA, thereby avoiding the need for Member firms to register either with the State or SEC. Equita does not take an equity stake in any Member firm. Member firms maintain their own independent, autonomous brand. Members own their client relationships – always.

The Equita platform is intentionally priced so that women business owners can keep more of what they make. Equita provides a robust and structured network component to support collaboration across Members firms, sharing of best practices, and client solutions + advocacy, education, and succession planning options. In-person and virtual gatherings support the exchange of information and ideas between like-minded professionals who share freely and support one another. Having an abundance mentality is an essential element of success when a woman becomes a part of the Equita community.

Equita also provides the opportunity to uncover potential partners for emergency continuity planning and/or succession planning purposes. Member firms are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professionals or will commit to earning the designation.

The brainchild of co-founders Katie Burke and Bridget Venus Grimes, Equita celebrated its fifth anniversary in May 2023. Created in 2018 by these two tenured CFPs, Equita’s structure and benefits are based on their own experiences, working every day in the trenches as RIA business owners themselves.
