PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–G2 Venture Partners, a venture capital firm investing in transformative technology companies at their inflection points to build a sustainable future, today announced that Ellie McDonald and Jeannine Sargent have joined the firm.

Ellie McDonald joins G2 Venture Partners as an Investor, having spent the past seven years working across investment and engineering disciplines. Ellie will work closely with G2’s investment team to identify the next generation of climate decacorns. Prior to joining G2, Ellie was a Private Equity Associate at Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP), primarily investing in the energy and telecommunication sectors. Before MSIP, she worked at Barclays as an Investment Banking Analyst, focused on mergers, acquisitions, and financing in the Power and Utilities Group. She holds a B.S.E. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University, where she graduated cum laude and was awarded the Sigma Xi Book Award for Outstanding Research. She also holds a Master’s in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Wharton.

“I’m thrilled to have the chance to invest in companies driving positive change in the climate and sustainability sectors as a member of the experienced team at G2. I’m a strong believer that amid the growing climate tech landscape, significant room remains for impactful, high-yield investments that will continue to transform traditional industries. I am excited to use my investing and engineering experience to identify and support the disruptive teams who are driving efficiency and sustainability,” said Ellie McDonald.

Jeannine Sargent joins G2 as an Operating Partner, bringing more than 30 years of experience innovating and building technology companies in emerging markets across multiple industries, geographies, and business cycles. Jeannine will work closely with G2’s portfolio companies on innovation and business strategy to accelerate growth and she will have an advisory role on future investments and deals.

Jeannine currently serves on the boards of Synopsys and Fortive and is a Trustee of Northeastern University. Her prior work has included co-founding and being CEO of two companies: Voyan Technology, a communications and advanced process controls software company; and Oerlikon Solar, a thin-film solar cell and module manufacturer. Jeannine has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Northeastern University and has completed executive education programs at MIT, Stanford, Harvard, and Carnegie Mellon Universities.

“We are thrilled to welcome the unique perspectives and deep experience that both Ellie and Jeannine bring to our talented team,” said Brook Porter, Founding Partner at G2. “Ellie’s engineering background will contribute to our ability to dig deeper into transformative technology companies, while Jeannine’s extensive operational and execution experience will be a tremendous asset for our portfolio companies to tap into at key inflection points during their growth.”
