Zunzi’s + Zunzibar Leap into Spring with Zunzifest! Celebration on April 9

Quarterly Appreciation Event Celebrates Team, Fans, and Community with Free Sandwiches and a Donation to Giving Kitchen

WHAT:
Zunzi’s + Zunzibar, the Savannah-based sister brands with locations in Savannah, Tybee Island, and Atlanta, are marking the culmination of their quarterly fundraising with a ZUNZIFEST! celebration on Tuesday, April 9. For the fundraising period ending on March 31, 2024, Zunzi’s + Zunzibar is donating 1% of all sales totaling $7,686 to Giving Kitchen.

“Our support of Giving Kitchen is rooted in our shared belief in the power of community and compassion in the food service industry,” says Chris Smith, owner of Zunzi’s + Zunzibar. “The restaurant business SUCKS, and we are here to change it! We recognize the crucial role of those who cook, serve, and bring joy to our tables. Supporting Giving Kitchen is not just about donations; it’s about standing shoulder to shoulder with our fellow food service workers in times of need.”

Zunzi’s + Zunzibar will present Giving Kitchen’s check during ZUNZIFEST! on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Members of Zunzi’s + Zunzibar’s 26 CLUB are invited to stop by any location from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to receive a free regular Conquistador or a vegan option upon request. Zunzibar, the beach-themed bar with locations in the same building as Zunzi’s in downtown Savannah and a standalone store on Tybee Island, will be offering all of its usual signature cocktails and drink specials during ZUNZIFEST!

To join 26 CLUB and receive a link for more details about ZUNZIFEST!, text “26CLUB” to 912-207-7551. On the morning of ZUNZIFEST!, guests will receive a code to show the team upon arrival. All locations will close early, at 3 p.m., for a special appreciation party for their teams.

ABOUT ZUNZI’S + ZUNZIBAR
Zunzi’s first opened its doors in 2005 to fill the tummies of college students at the Savannah College of Art and Design with home-cooked meals. Since then, Zunzi’s award-winning menu has won the hearts of SCAD students, locals, and tourists visiting Savannah. By popular demand, Zunzi’s expanded to Atlanta, Georgia, and opened a second location in May 2018. In 2021, Zunzi’s relocated its original Savannah location and added Zunzibar, its sister beach-bar concept. A second location of Zunzibar opened in Tybee Island, Georgia, in 2023. Zunzi’s + Zunzibar is now focused on further expansion by opening company locations in Coastal Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. In 2022 and 2023, Zunzi’s earned a spot on Fast Casual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers list, and CEO Chris Smith was recognized among Fast Casual’s Top 25 Executives. In 2020, Smith was named among QSR’s “15 Young Restaurant Leaders to Watch.” In 2019, Zunzi’s landed on Thrillist’s compilation of “The 33 Best Sandwiches in America,” and the eatery’s Conquistador was named the best sandwich in Georgia on People magazine’s “Best Sandwich in Every State” list. In 2017, Zunzi’s secured a spot on Mental Floss’s list of “The Best Sandwiches in all 50 States” and BuzzFeed’s “34 Meals That Are Actually Worth Traveling the World For.” Zagat also rated the Savannah location’s food a 4.6/5. The Conquistador was ranked among Men’s Journal’s “50 Best Sandwiches in America” in 2015 and “Best Sandwich in the South” by Travel Channel’s Adam Richman in 2012.
