Knownwell Appoints Phillip Merrick to Board

Knownwell, an AI-as-a-Service provider for mid-market professional services companies, is pleased to announce the appointment of its first board member, Phillip Merrick. Merrick will provide strategic guidance to Knownwell as the company launches its first-of-its-kind AI platform later this year.

Merrick is the co-founder and CEO of pgEdge Inc., an open-source database as a service company. A serial entrepreneur and software developer by background, Merrick has a history of scaling successful technology ventures from the earliest startup stages to IPO and beyond.

Prior to becoming CEO of pgEdge Inc., Merrick co-founded and led several cloud-security and technology software companies that later sold for a combined $1.2 billion. Previous companies Merrick has led include Fugue, SparkPost, and webMethods, Inc., the latter of which he founded and led through IPO and acquisition.

At SparkPost, Merrick led the creation and growth of a cloud email delivery business from zero to $23M annual recurring revenue in three years. SparkPost was acquired by MessageBird for $600M in 2021. webMethods was acquired by Software AG for more than $500 million in 2007 following its highly successful IPO in 2000. Fugue was acquired by Synk for an undisclosed amount.
