Geis Companies to Finish Expansive Multi-level Parking Deck in Southington This Spring

Geis Companies is nearing completion of construction of a three-level parking deck designed to withstand severe winter weather. The project at 87 Aircraft Road will have 73,000 square feet of parking space with enough deck height at ground level to accommodate interstate semi-trucks.

“The project’s robust design will ensure the structure will withstand decades of Nor’easters’” said Kevin Watts, Vice President of Geis Construction. “We are constantly upgrading the materials and methods of which we work and this is another example of bringing state-of-the-art design to our clients.”

The post-tensioned structure will feature decks constructed with a waterproofing hycrete-concrete admixture and epoxy-coated Rebar. To keep spaces accessible during winter storms, Geis is installing snow melts on the ramps and a snow shute on the top deck.

The Cleveland-based company is building the parking deck on the former site of the Southington Service Center at the intersection of Airport and Newell roads. The Queen Street interchange with I-84 is less than 1 mile away.
