Florida’s Children First (FCF), the award-winning non-profit that advocates to make positive changes in the lives of children, will recognize truly remarkable child advocates and former foster youth at FCF’s 22nd annual Broward County Advocates for Children Awards, held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on March 19 at 5:30 p.m.
This is one of the largest events FCF hosts each year, recognizing the accomplishments of community leaders in Broward who support its mission of making positive changes in the lives of children. Josh Rydell, Mayor of Coconut Creek, will serve as the event’s emcee with an expected attendance of 300 supporters including community and business leaders, former honorees, care providers, and individuals who are committed to helping Florida’s children.
This year, FCF is delighted to spotlight the following honorees:
2024 Outstanding Corporate Champion For Children: Keiser University
Over the years, Keiser University and its leadership team have championed numerous FCF initiatives to protect and expand the rights and protections of Florida’s children and to ensure they have the tools and opportunities needed to thrive, particularly those who are most disadvantaged.
2024 Outstanding Non-Profit Champion for Children: SOS Children’s Villages Florida
For three decades, SOS Children’s Villages has been renowned in Broward County and a leader around the world for providing a nurturing, family-oriented community that offers healing, hope, a stable home environment, and an unparalleled standard of support for children and young adults in the foster care system.
2024 Outstanding Youth Advocate: Takara Young
Despite upheaval in her family life and being placed into relative care with an aunt, Takara has shown a remarkable level of resilience and positivity. A rising leader, she has been instrumental in developing and helping to organize impactful and fun events that benefit her peers in care and bring joy and a sense of community to others going through experiences similar to her own.
This event and the work of FCF would not be possible without the support of the organization’s incredible sponsors, including Kelley Kronenberg (Statewide Presenting Sponsor), Funding Florida Legal Aid, Guardian Trust, The Laszlo Fischer Foundation, The Paul Palank Memorial Foundation, The Shane McGee Foundation, and Stuart Building Products.
