Starling In Nashville Nears Opening; Announces Latest Retail Tenant

National developer Portman today announces strength training fitness concept Solidcore is coming to Starling, the 363-unit luxury residential tower in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood. Opening this fall, Solidcore will join previously announced restaurant concepts Toastique, Social Cantina and Retrograde Coffee at Starling. Preleasing efforts at Starling are currently underway, with the first units delivering in May.

Solidcore is a high-intensity, low impact workout on a pilates-inspired reformer, designed to target the entire body. Starling residents and the surrounding community will soon be able to partake in the fitness studio’s specialized workout program featuring slow, controlled movements that engage the core in a high-energy, motivating group format. With its signature 50-minute classes and a focus on empowering communities while instilling joy in exercise, Solidcore at Starling will become the brand’s second location within Nashville.

Overlooking the First Horizon Park, Starling is a new luxury residential tower featuring 17,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Portman designed the building with an intentional focus to embrace the Cumberland River Greenway, which has been expanded as part of the project. Residents at Starling can look forward to a highly amenitized living experience, complete with a rooftop pool featuring expansive views of the Nashville skyline, among other purposeful inclusions. The entire project, including the expansion of the greenway, is expected to open in June.

“At Solidcore, we believe in giving our customers a space where they can truly feel inspired, included and seen while building the strongest version of themselves,” said Josh Rainey, Director of Real Estate at Solidcore. “We were drawn to the walkability and activity in Germantown due to the greenway and baseball park, and feel that our fitness format will be a seamless addition to the neighborhood. We are thrilled to expand our brand’s presence in Nashville at Starling.”

In addition to Solidcore, Portman has already landed food and beverage destinations Social Cantina, Toastique and Retrograde Coffee for Starling. Social Cantina, a modern Mexican restaurant and tequila bar, will open its first Southeast location at the luxury residential tower, taking 5,500 square feet of space with a 100-seat patio. Retrograde Coffee, a popular go-to neighborhood coffee shop, will introduce an elevated food and drink experience that includes craft cocktails and weekend brunch. Toastique, a gourmet toast and juice bar, will open its first Tennessee location at Starling.

“Our dynamic retail program at Starling is designed to seamlessly integrate with the lively Germantown district as we seek to activate the street level with new dining and fitness options.” said Dotan Zuckerman, Head of Retail Development at Portman. “In addition to the pedestrian activity flowing off the greenway, Starling’s retail mix will perfectly complement the experience at First Horizon Park. Solidcore is a nationally renowned brand that we know will be a top-of-the-line amenity for Starling’s residents and the entire neighborhood.”

Also in Nashville, Portman completed construction of The Moore Building, a 16-story Class-A office building in the heart of Nashville’s iconic Music Row district last year. Located within walking distance of Broadway, The Moore Building features 236,000 square feet of office space and 8,500 square feet of ground-floor retail, which includes recently announced Atlanta-based Highland Yoga.

Portman is also redeveloping Eleven North, a 10-acre apartment campus in The Gulch, into a connected mixed-use destination with the addition of three high and mid-rise residential towers. Located adjacent to Asurion’s HQ campus and Amazon’s new towers, the project will provide a critical link between the North Gulch and mid-Gulch districts. With direct access to the Gulch Greenway trail, Eleven North will create new paths for seamless pedestrian connectivity to the Gulch neighborhoods as well as provide significant enhancements to the greenway.
