Shain joins 1440 after more than six years at theSkimm, where she was most recently senior editor. In this new role to 1440, Shain will help manage the development of the daily newsletter, from curation to writing and editing.
As a veteran editor and writer, Shain brings nearly 10 years of experience in managing editorial teams, editing daily newsletters and achieving industry-leading subscriber and open rates. She oversaw the Daily Skimm writing and editing team after years writing, fact-checking and revising the newsletter for style, voice and journalistic integrity.
Prior to theSkimm, Shain was the director of research at the Counter Extremism Project, an international non-profit organization that combats extremist ideology, where she oversaw campaigns working to reduce funding and personnel flow to ISIS and other terrorist and extremist groups.
