Woman-Owned Learning Center Secures Landmark Contract with NYC Department of Education to Provide Students with Direct Math Tutoring

Kweller Prep Tutoring and Educational Services, Inc., a 100% Woman-owned business and certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE) is now a prime contracted direct math tutoring services vendor with the New York City Department of Education.
This groundbreaking 5-year contract marks a pivotal moment in the educational landscape. This contract will allow Kweller Prep to support students seeking to enhance their math proficiency and excel in their math classes.
New York City public school principals can partner with Kweller Prep by allocating funds from their existing budgets to provide direct tutoring services. “This contract will open access to free math tutoring for participating public schools,” responded Frances Kweller, a longtime supporter of direct math tutoring and college-readiness programs for middle and high school students.

The decision to contract with Kweller was nearly unanimously endorsed.
The Panel for Education Policy voted yes, with an overwhelming majority of 21 out of 22 members in favor of the partnership. The resounding support from superintendents, principals, city council members, and borough president appointees highlighted the vital role of supplementary education services.
During the decisive proceedings, impassioned speeches from 15 public speakers, including PA Presidents, CEC leaders, parents, and high school students, emphasized the transformative impact Kweller Prep had on their educational journeys.
Among them, Nicols Jean, a Haitian parent whose daughters have navigated the New York City public school system, articulated fervent advocacy for accessible free math tutoring. Emphasizing the broader societal implications, Jean remarked, “This is not about any test prep; this is about creating free learning opportunities for black children and all children in New York City. This contract can close achievement gaps in math.”
Echoing this sentiment, Fatai Adebenro, of Nigerian descent, discussed the importance of supplemental tutoring for his three children as they went from public school to medical school. He emphasized the profound benefits of free math tutoring for New York City’s youth. Adebenro stressed that all his children, now thriving in medical school, stand as testaments to the transformative power of direct tutoring services with Kweller Prep.
Atensa Premphe, a graduate of New York City’s Brooklyn Latin Specialized High School and an advocate for personalized learning, recounted his journey to a full college scholarship. “Giving parents more ability to supplement the education for their children for free is much more worthwhile than any other tech services with questionable outcomes,” Premphe affirmed.
Additionally, Kathy Rivera, speaking passionately in Spanish, emphasized the critical role of free tutoring services in preventing her daughter from falling behind in math at her public high school.
