Dr. Ann McClain Terrell Joins The Goddard School’s Educational Advisory Board

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Goddard Systems, LLC, manager of The Goddard School franchise system, welcomes Dr. Ann McClain Terrell to its Educational Advisory Board (EAB). The EAB is comprised of a diversely skilled group of educators, researchers, physicians and early childhood experts who work closely with GSL to ensure The Goddard School’s individualized learning program and health and safety standards are consistently at the forefront of early childhood research and development. 

With five decades of professional experience, Dr. Terrell is one of the nation’s preeminent early childhood education leaders. As the former president of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the former executive director of the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Inc., Dr. Terrell’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping educational policies and practices across the country. Her background also includes roles as the director of innovation and director of early childhood education for the Milwaukee Public Schools district.

In addition to being a renowned educator, Dr. Terrell is an accomplished author. Her book, Graceful Leadership in Early Childhood Education, reflects her commitment to advancing the early childhood education field. Her community service involvement extends to boards, councils and committees, including the Wisconsin Governor’s Early Childhood Advisory Council and the Milwaukee Succeeds Leadership Table.

Dr. Terrell holds an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Lakeland University and multiple degrees, including an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University and an M.S. in Cultural Foundations of Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has received countless accolades in recognition of her service and accomplishments, including the 2008 Black Women’s Network Legacy of Leadership in Education Award and the 2007 National Black Child Development Institute-Milwaukee Affiliate Early Childhood Recognition Award.

  • Dr. Jennifer Jipson, department chair and professor of psychology and child development at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
  • Dr. Jack Maypole, clinical associate professor of pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine and department vice chair and director of the Comprehensive Care Program at Boston Medical Center.
  • Dr. Kyle Pruett, clinical professor of child psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and founder of the Yale Conference on Fatherhood and the Harris Professional Development Network for Training in Early Intervention and Research.
  • Dr. Valerie Truesdale, education policy expert who currently serves as the assistant executive director of the School Superintendents Association.
