New Women’s Empowerment Book: “Code Her Rising” To Inspire Women in Tech and other Fields Through a Female Code Based in Part on Self-Respect

Book spurs empowerment events across the DMV for International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.

On the eves of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, Maryland resident, Jasmeet Kaur, a Cyber Security professional, has released an important guide to Women’s Empowerment, Code Her Rising Empowering Women Across Borders, Navigating Challenges and Cultivating Success.” The book embarks on a transformative journey through the tech terrain, shining a spotlight on and dismantling gender disparities. At its heart lies the Female Code, a dynamic set of principles rooted in self-respect and personal growth, guiding the way. Each chapter delves into the essential elements of women’s empowerment in tech, from unlocking the power of self-respect to navigating a path of continuous growth, all illuminated by inspiring real-life success stories.

News reports often challenge the availability of opportunities for women in tech fields, be it due to the lack of female founders and CEOs, sexism and discrimination, or the gender gap. However Kaur says the key to overcoming these challenges “is not about bridging the gap between men and women. It’s about creating a space where there is no existence of gender.”

Kaur, who ironically was born on March 8, the commemoration of International Women’s Day, says her book is specifically designed for women who are experiencing challenges in their lives. Perhaps they are not happy with where they are in their careers for example, or feel they don’t have the education, skills, or background to achieve their goals and dreams. She suggests women help themselves by employing the Female Code, using tools like self-respect, positivity, and self-reflection on their path to progress. She points to examples of women who have accomplished their goals in the wake of adversity. An example can be found in the story in tech like Sheryl Sandberg, the founder of and American technology executive, who served as chief operating officer of Meta Platforms, a position from which she stepped down in August 2022.

“In her book, ‘Lean In’, Sandberg encourages women to believe in themselves, take the next step, and assume their rightful places at the table,” Kaur says. In “Code Her Rising,” Kaur suggests those steps include actions like decoding self-respect, creating a journey of continuous growth, exploring personal and professional development, and building a foundation that she calls a fortress of supportive community akin to a collaborative ecosystem. After each of her 11 chapters of collective wisdom, she encourages women to take stock of where they are so they can also build their roadmap for the future.

“CodeHer Rising is not just a book; it’s a movement to break down barriers and create a more inclusive tech industry,” Kaur says. “By providing education, mentorship, and opportunities, we aim to empower women to take their rightful place in the world of technology.”

Kaur says that in spite of the added responsibilities that women often incur due to work-life balance between family and career, and other challenges, they must abandon negative self-talk and believe in themselves. “The only thing standing between you and your goals or your dreams is the story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it,” she asserts.

As Kaur continues on her quest to help women rise in the tech industry and beyond, she invites other women to join her. She issues a call to action to women in the DC, Maryland, Virginia areas and beyond to use their knowledge to leverage their local communities and relationships, and create opportunities for other women to rise. A few examples include creating a few workshops to provide women with Cybersecurity education at Montgomery College where she is a part-time professor and providing book talks on the topic at Senior Connection, a nonprofit organization in Montgomery County dedicated to providing programs and services that preserve and foster independence, mobility, and quality of life for senior citizens, where she serves as a board member at large. She has even created a GoFundMe and is organizing a 5K for women in her neighborhood to support a local woman who is experiencing financial challenges.

Despite the many challenges in the fast-paced world of tech, Kaur says she believes the futures of women in technology are very bright, and women interested in tech fields must believe they can circumvent every obstacle through their sheer will and belief in their ability to succeed. “Envisioning an inclusive future transcends mere representation; it encapsulates a holistic transformation where diversity, equality, and innovation intertwine seamlessly,” she says in her book. “This future is one where women, with their unique perspectives and talents, stand not on the periphery but at the very forefront of technological innovation.”
