The Journey Church NYC Extends 8,643-SF Lease at 247 West 37th St.

GFP Real Estate, LLC is pleased to announce that The Journey Church NYC, a “casual, contemporary, Christian church,” has signed a 10-year lease extension for its existing 8,643 square feet on the third floor of 247 West 37th St. in the Garment District.

Matthew Mandell of GFP Real Estate represented the landlord, GFP Real Estate, in the transaction; Gary Youm of JLL represented the tenant.  The Journey Church NYC, which holds its services offsite at the nearby AMC Empire 25 in Times Square (234 W 42nd St.) and virtually, will continue to use the space for its general and executive offices.  The Journey Church NYC first moved into the building in 2013.

“The Journey Church NYC has been a solid tenant for the past decade.  They wanted to maintain their large footprint due to the close proximity to the theater where their weekly services are held,” said Matthew Mandell of GFP Real Estate. “We are excited that The Journey Church NYC will call 247 West 37th St. home for the next ten years and beyond.”

The Journey Church NYC was founded on Easter Sunday in 2002, when a small but passionate group of people gathered in two Manhattan campuses (Upper West Side and the East Village) as The Journey held weekly services for the first time.  Over the years, the congregation has met in comedy clubs, church basements, off-Broadway theaters, public schools, hotel ballrooms and even concert venues, growing steadily in numbers and ministries over the past twenty years.  The Journey now meets for services in Times Square every Sunday.  For more details about the church visit JourneyNYC.com.

247 West 37th Street was designed by the architectural firm of Gronenberg & Leuchtag and built by the Bricken Construction Company in 1924, and so was originally known as the Bricken Centre Building. The 19-story, 271,000-square-foot property has recently undergone significant renovations and boasts state-of-the-art elevators and a newly renovated lobby.

247 West 37th Street is home to an array of non-profit and fashion tenants such as JASA, Workmens Circle and The Settlement Housing Fund.  Located in the base of the building is Stitch Bar & Lounge which was voted the best “After Work Bar” in New York City by Citysearch.com.  Situated in the heart of the historic Garment District, the building allows for a convenient walk to nearly any amenity, and numerous transit options are blocks away, allowing for a hassle-free commute to or from the building.
