The name J.Coopers Row reflects the site’s history and the “coopers” that crafted the wood barrels, as they were known.

The character of the existing rowhomes and factory inspired the architecture of the project. The building’s façade combines historical brick detailing with modern architectural window systems that provide floor-to-ceiling vistas and abundant natural light. The development also preserves and incorporates the historic character of six rowhomes, which were built between 1892 and 1900 and are some of the last-remaining examples of the historic fabric of old Southwest D.C.
