Most of us are familiar with the concepts of flash mobs. But flash weddings? Like a flash mob, these quickie nuptials occur clandestinely at parks, public spaces and sometimes even private businesses.
This trend really made the news when a couple and 20+ loved ones held their wedding in an Indianapolis coffee shop without explicit consent from the owner.
Allegedly, the small but disruptive ceremony led to a loss in sales for the shop and meant the happy couple was skirting rental fees the coffee shop requires for small events. After an Instagram post from the coffee shop calling out the wedding, this couple has gone viral, stoking supporters on both sides of the argument. Last week, it came to light that the couple had contacted shop management before the event, and the owner had forgotten about the exchange.
