Ohio Digital Learning School Appoints Dr. Brian Powderly As Head of School

Dr. Powderly brings over 18 years of experience in educational leadership and administration to the tuition-free online public school serving students across the state

MAUMEE, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ohio Digital Learning School, a tuition-free online public school serving students ages 16-21 across the state, has announced Dr. Brian Powderly has been hired as the Head of School.

“Dr. Powderly has a proven track record of delivering strong, positive educational outcomes for high schools across the state,” said Laura Houghton, Operations Manager at ODLS. “Brian has exhibited exemplary leadership and a deep knowledge of curriculum and collaborative problem-solving that is certain to benefit our students and their families.”

As Head of School, Dr. Powderly will be responsible for overseeing and managing the school’s academic programs, business strategies, and budget. He will work closely with the school’s administrators, teachers, staff and board of directors to foster student achievement — helping students recover credits and overcome obstacles — so they can successfully complete high school and prepare for the next chapter of their journey via careers and college.

ODLS serves students aged 16-21 across Ohio enrolled in grades 9-12. In addition to providing high-quality high school education for students, ODLS also offers credit recovery to help students catch up when falling behind on credit attainment and a high school diploma program for adults aged 22 and older looking to return to school.

Prior to joining ODLS, Dr. Powderly served as principal at Milton-Union High School, principal at Monroe Junior and Senior High School, assistant principal at Sidney Middle School, and most recently, principal at Benjamin Logan High School in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Dr. Powderly holds a bachelor’s degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Wright State University, and a Doctor of Education from Miami University.
