Latticework Capital Management’s American Clinical Research Services Appoints Dustin Owen As CEO

RALEIGH, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–American Clinical Research Services, founded in 2022 to improve the quality of life for millions of Americans through scientific research, announced today Dustin Owen has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer.

ACRS was formed in 2022 by Latticework Capital Management with the acquisition of Catalina Research Institute (“CRI”). CRI focuses on highly complex metabolic trials in NASH, NAFLD, and diabetes, along with central nervous system disease. In Jan 2023, ACRS acquired patient recruitment company Clinical Site Services (“CSSi”), along with subsidiary Patient Advertising Guru. CSSi leverages media outreach and local enrollment specialists to raise awareness of clinical trials.

Mr. Owen joins ACRS from Thermo Fisher Scientific/PPD, where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Accelerated Enrollment Solutions (“AES”), which offers biopharmaceutical sponsors and contract research organizations best-in-class clinical trial site conduct and patient access solutions. In his role, Mr. Owen was responsible for more than 160 clinical research sites, spanning 15 countries and 2,000 employees. Prior to leading AES at Thermo Fisher/PPD, Mr. Owen served as PPD’s Head of Asia Pacific Clinical Operations and board member for PPD-SNBL Laboratories joint venture in Japan preceded by Vice President of Strategic Laboratory Operations. Prior to joining PPD in 2013, he held roles at LabCorp, Biogen, and Manhattan Associates.

“I’m excited to join the ACRS team to help execute the plan for continued growth,” said Mr. Owen. “ACRS is focused on inclusive patient centric solutions for clinical development. We look to build upon our base of high-quality research sites like Catalina Research Institute and results oriented patient recruitment capabilities in CSSi. CRI’s focus is on complex trials, where we are pursuing therapeutic areas with significant unmet need, but able to do so by reaching underrepresented patient populations. We then pair these capabilities with CSSi, which leverages media patient outreach with local enrollment specialists who support site staff within the site and throughout the community.”

“We are delighted to have Dustin join the ACRS team as CEO as we seek to build out a premier management team and corporate infrastructure at ACRS,” said Kyle Bradford, Managing Partner at Latticework Capital. “Dustin has a unique background having led a large organization focused on both clinical trial execution and patient recruitment. His experience will be additive as we build out a full-service site management organization.”

Mr. Owen holds an Industrial Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech and a Master of Business Administration from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.

ACRS is actively seeking acquisitions in the clinical research site and patient recruitment space. For more information, please reach out to Dustin Owen (dustin.owen@acrsholdings.com).
