Steptoe Expands Team in Brussels with New Partner Anne-Gabrielle Haie

Steptoe & Johnson today announced the expansion of its Data Protection, Privacy & Cybersecurity group with the addition of Anne-Gabrielle Haie, formerly of Cooley, as a partner in the Brussels office. Anne-Gabrielle’s arrival continues the growth of the office which named Renato Antonini managing partner in December.

“Anne-Gabrielle’s work assisting clients with complex EU regulatory and policy matters helps us continue to keep our clients abreast of the rapidly evolving data protection, privacy and cybersecurity landscape in the EU,” said office managing partner, Renato Antonini. “Her addition uniquely positions us to assist clients who are experiencing the complex and cutting-edge challenges of the digital regulatory framework and the increasingly stringent enforcement environment.”

Anne-Gabrielle’s practice focuses on advising clients on a wide range of digital-related matters including AI and blockchain, with a strong focus on data protection, privacy and cybersecurity. Her experience includes counseling clients on these issues in relation to strategic transactions and commercial negotiations in addition to assisting clients with cybersecurity preparedness and response to data breaches and other security incidents. Some of her recent matters include representing a global tech company in an enforcement action before the Belgian data protection authority and court, and assisting a global e-learning company with response to a personal data breach and notifications to regulators in +40 jurisdictions.

Steptoe’s Brussels office brings together Belgian, British, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Spanish, and US lawyers who advise on EU law. The firm’s multidisciplinary teams (lawyers, policy advisors, and scientists) collaborate closely with colleagues in the US, the UK, and China to help clients anticipate and mitigate legal risks globally and efficiently through cross-jurisdictional work.

Anne-Gabrielle added: “I am thrilled to join the Steptoe team in Brussels, which has a stellar reputation for trade and EU regulatory practices. This is an exciting next step in my career, and I look forward to partnering with the skilled attorneys at Steptoe to share insights and deliver top quality results for both new and existing clients.”
