Jason Rissman Joins NationSwell as Chief Experience Officer

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–To support the rapid expansion and scaled impact of its membership community, NationSwell has hired Jason Rissman, former Enterprise Director at IDEO, as its first ever Chief Experience Officer.

“I can’t think of a better way to mark ten years of impact than celebrating Jason’s hiring,” NationSwell CEO Greg Behrman, who founded the organization in 2013, said. “His remit will enable NationSwell to grow the essential support that we’ve provided to leaders at the vanguard of social, economic and environmental impact — and we share a vision of a connected and coordinated landscape of progress that aligns perfectly with his unique track record of success.”

As Chief Experience Officer, Rissman will refine and advance NationSwell’s membership community of executives, philanthropic leaders, impact investors, academics and luminaries. These offerings include dedicated support, research and insights, strategic connections and signature events that bring together the best minds in sustainability and social impact.

“Impact leaders today have more responsibility and pressure than ever before as their work is critical in addressing pressing societal challenges like climate change,” Rissman said of his new post. “There’s no precedent or playbook for their role, and NationSwell provides needed support to help them succeed. I’m thrilled to join, lead and learn from my new colleagues.”

Rissman joins NationSwell from IDEO, a global design firm, where he had worked since 2014 leading the organization’s open innovation and systems change businesses and helping develop its climate change strategy. He is the host of the podcast “Invested in Climate,” and brings climate change expertise that will enable NationSwell to uplevel its offerings around environmental factors at a time of increased stakeholder pressure to meet the demands of this moment.

“On behalf of the NationSwell Team, I am thrilled that Jason will be at the helm of our membership community experience,” Uyen Tieu, NationSwell president, said. “His experience supporting climate and sustainability startups, as well as his unique skillset applying design principles to impact community work, will be transformative for our members looking for a trusted throughline at a time of complex pressure and evolving stakeholder demands.”

Senior members of the Institutional Membership, Council, and Partnership teams, as well as NationSwell’s Insights practice, will report into him.
