BCLP Strengthens Health Care Practice with the Addition of Counsel Kelly Koeninger

International law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) announced the addition of Counsel Kelly Koeninger to the firm’s Health Care Practice. Kelly will be resident in BCLP’s Charlotte office and will work across the firm’s global 30-office platform.

Kelly focuses her practice on strategic, operational and compliance matters for health care clients and also counsels clients on telehealth, privacy and cybersecurity issues. In her commercially minded guidance for health care entities, she incorporates a deep understanding of federal and state fraud and abuse laws (including Stark and the Anti-Kickback Statute), state corporate practice of medicine rules, and corporate and commercial transactions. Clients will also benefit from her practical and operational experience as a former in-house counsel with one of the largest independent medical practices in the U.S.

Her experience includes the negotiation of complex joint venture transactions between regulated entities and providers, mergers and acquisitions, and professional services agreements. She advises health care clients on critical and technical specialized industry matters, including risk management, transaction structuring, licensing matters, surprise billing (including the federal No Surprises Act), price transparency, and federal and private payor issues. She has frequently helped structure and advise on cutting-edge projects involving concierge medicine, virtual care, value-based care models and other industry-based subjects.

A frequent speaker and author on health care law as well as cybersecurity and privacy law developments, Kelly is often noted as a top lawyer by legal rankings.

She will work closely with Jennifer Hutchens, who recently joined BCLP as the new global leader of the firm’s Heath Care Practice and a partner in the firm’s Corporate & Finance Transactions Department. Resident in the Charlotte office, Jennifer heads the firm’s dynamic Health Care Practice working with clients firmwide.

“I am so pleased and excited to have Kelly join here at BCLP,” Jennifer noted. “She brings a wealth of experience to our industry clients firmwide and her expertise is particularly pertinent to representing our clients in health-innovation initiatives. We welcome her to the firm.”
