Lockheed Architectural Solutions Becomes First in Rhode Island to Earn NACC

Pascoag-based commercial glazing contractor Lockheed Architectural Solutions, Inc. has become the first in Rhode Island and 60th overall to earn North American Contractor Certification (NACC). NACC is an ANSI-accredited, award-winning, third-party certification that recognizes architectural glass and metal subcontractors who adhere to best practices for glazing quality, construction safety, and business operations. By earning NACC, Lockheed affirmed its voluntary commitment to meeting high construction standards.

“NACC sets certified glazing contractors apart as best-in-class,” explained Lockheed President Michael S. Kosiver. “We have always considered ourselves best-in-class but going through the certification process opened our eyes to how we could make improvements to be even better, smarter, and stronger. At the end of the day, our clients, customers, and end-users are going to experience the benefits.”
The Lockheed NACC committee included Kosiver as well as David Ames, Nancy Bianchi, Bob Gregoire, Eric Gregoire, Bob Middleton III, Bob Leclerc, and Shaun St. Laurent. Together, they worked with NACC administrators over five months to undergo a series of rigorous assessments and to implement standard written documents including a quality management system (QMS), a program requirement of all certified contractors. To maintain certification, Lockheed will be reevaluated annually to confirm its business and glazing practices remain at the high standards NACC requires.
Lockheed has a team of 120 employees who execute multi-million-dollar glazing installation projects for institutional and commercial property owners throughout Rhode Island and the Northeastern U.S. while maintaining the spirit and authenticity of a family-owned business. Recent projects have included comprehensive building envelopes for Revolution Labs, LLC in Lexington, Mass., and 87 Trumbull Street at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., both completed in 2022 The company currently has both exterior and interior glazing scopes underway at the Gordon Center for Creative & Performing Arts at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, scheduled for completion in 2023.
“Lockheed has set a high bar for glazing contractors in Rhode Island, becoming the first to earn the NACC credential,” said NACC Program Administrator Jeff Dalaba. “NACC gives peace of mind to building owners, architects, construction managers, and insurers. Hiring a credentialed glazing subcontractor reduces stakeholder risk by providing verified evidence of adherence to the highest standards and best practices for quality and safety.”
Since its 2015 launch, the NACC program has certified 60 glazing subcontractors in 21 states and Canada. Over 70 more companies are progressing toward certification in 2023. Glazing contractors can earn the NACC credential in one or more of eight categories based on the company’s operations. Lockheed earned NACC in five categories: interior and entry systems, building envelope low-rise, building envelope high-rise, interior glazing, and horizontal glazing. Additional categories include active glass, guardrails, and service work.
