WTR 2023 Rankings Distinguish Foley Hoag Among World’s Leading Trademark Law Firms

The international publication World Trademark Review (WTR) has included Foley Hoag LLP among the top trademark law firms, and commended three of its attorneys for their expertise in trademark matters.

WTR 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals recommends law firms and individual practitioners in the trademark field, and identifies the leading players in key jurisdictions globally. This year’s rankings placed Foley Hoag in the silver category within the United States-Massachusetts jurisdiction. Assessments are a result of extensive phone interviews with hundreds of lawyers and clients, and a written submission from each firm.

The 2023 edition of WTR’s annual assessment notes client commentary on Foley Hoag’s trademark practice: “The firm’s team of consummate professionals have kept us on top of all our trademark-related activities globally, providing insights of how we can best position our products and services; highly recommend its services to anyone seeking trademark strategy and execution support.”

Partner Joshua Jarvis, co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, ranked in the silver category in Massachusetts for prosecution and strategy. Counsel and Trademark, Copyright & Unfair Competition practice co-chair Jenevieve Maerker ranked in the bronze category in prosecution and strategy in Massachusetts. Partner Natasha Reed, co-chair of the Trademark, Copyright, and Unfair Competition practice group, ranked in the bronze category in enforcement and litigation in New York.

According to the review, Jarvis was cited for focusing on “high-level trademark strategy, from advising on global portfolios to complex licensing work.” Maerker was highlighted as “a great thinking partner every step of the way; her thorough analysis and ability to clearly raise issues and present risks is most valuable in informing business decisions from an intellectual property perspective.” Reed was noted as having “developed a sophisticated and thoughtful practice that engages all aspects of trademark law, but particularly focuses on enforcement and anti-counterfeiting; and an especially acute understanding of industry issues in fashion, luxury goods and retail.”
