Shutts & Bowen LLP announced the launch of the firm’s Land Use Practice Group, which will provide real estate developers and investors with representation in the fields of land use, zoning, and local government matters. Alexander I. Tachmes, a partner in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, was appointed to lead the state-wide group.
“Shutts & Bowen represents a broad range of clients in some of the most complex land use assignments in the State of Florida,” said Tachmes. “Our team has a great depth of experience in handling nearly every type of zoning and local government real estate matter, including site plan approvals, historic preservation, public private development projects, code enforcement, legislative advocacy and sophisticated land use litigation. With ever-changing politics, laws and economics, we assist clients in navigating the fluid regulatory environment.”
Tachmes, who has been a partner at Shutts for more than 17 years, has represented many clients in significant land use and local government matters in South Florida. His roster of clients ranges from public traded companies to family real estate offices and individual entrepreneurs. Tachmes also has experience representing local governments and previously served as a first assistant city attorney for Miami Beach.
Shutts, long respected for its established real estate practice, brings highly experienced lawyers to the team. The group’s practitioners recognize and understand the critical issues facing developers and their business partners and are prepared to assist in getting their projects planned, financed, and completed quickly while working with the requisite oversight agencies to secure approval for their developments.
“Throughout Florida, our land use practice has earned well-deserved recognition for their outstanding work on behalf of clients working on cutting-edge commercial developments,” said Jack C. McElroy, Firmwide Managing Partner of Shutts & Bowen. “The team we have assembled to launch our Land Use Practice Group can handle virtually any zoning issue, from A to Z.”
