Lifestyle Brand And Sneaker Community – Kicks & Fros – To Join Camp North End

ATCO Properties & Management announced today that lifestyle brand and sneaker community Kicks & Fros has leased a vintage airstream in Camp North End’s Boileryard District as its first office location.

Founded by Melissa Carneige in 2017, Kicks & Fros began as a creative initiative to celebrate sneaker culture and the black and brown women in the space “who make it dope”. Since launching on social media, a community formed and a business was born.

Today, in addition to a sisterhood that empowers, entertains and elevates women to “unleash their inner SneakHERhead” the brand sells apparel items such as crewnecks and t-shirts; accessories including totes, mugs, sneaker laces, keychains and more; as well as gift cards.

Carnegie grew up collecting sneakers alongside her father and brother and has loved them her entire life. She created the business to address a void she noticed in terms of representation: “I wanted to start something to bring awareness to sneaker style for women. We don’t have to be in heels all the time – we can be comfortable and presentable, while still looking like a boss.”

Kicks & Fros’ new Airstream will provide office space for Carnegie, a place for her community to drop by and eventually showcase items for purchase.

“I’m thrilled that Kicks & Fros’ first true home is at Camp North End,” said Carneige. “The foundation of my entire business is built on the strength of community. Joining and contributing to the one that’s already thriving here will provide endless opportunities for us to grow and collaborate with other creatives.”

In addition to Kicks & Fros, the Boileryard District is home to F&B tenants including craft cocktail purveyor Black Moth BarsNoDa Company Canteen’s brick-and-mortar location; and HEX Coffee. Additional neighboring businesses include BLK MRKTDice MagazineeXplicit SalonPrism Supply CoDupp & SwatAnnie Fair Designs, Wily, Windy O’Connor Art and Home and Passero Associates.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kicks & Fros to Camp North End,” said Tommy Mann, Development Director of Camp North End, who also represented building ownership on this transaction. “Much like Camp North End, Kicks & Fros is intentional about creating a place where people can find inspiration and flourish together in community. We’re excited to support Melissa’s work and can’t wait to see what’s next for her brand.”
