Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig Named Certified Veteran’s Business Enterprise by National Veteran-Owned Business Association

As a certified VBE, DBL’s business profile will be listed on the nonprofit’s searchable database.

Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig (DBL) announced today that the national law firm has earned formal recognition as a Certified Veteran’s Business Enterprise (VBE) from the National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA).

The nationally recognized gold standard in certification for veteran-owned businesses enables corporate America and the U.S. Government to proactively source and confidently utilize businesses that are at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by U.S. military veterans.

VBE certification is a private sector program that mirrors certification that already exists for Minority Business Enterprises and Women’s Business Enterprises selling to corporate America. The nonprofit NaVOBA’s mission is to create corporate contracting opportunities for veteran’s and service-disabled veteran’s businesses.

“At DBL, we are proud of our military service and honored to receive this important designation from the NaVOBA,” said Thomas Dunlap, who served nine years as a U.S. Army Officer. “The lessons I learned in the military – integrity, honor, ethics and courage – are a core part of how we do business at DBL.”

Dunlap served as Recon Scout Platoon Leader and executive officer in a light calvary unit and commander of an infantry company.

“The VBE certification helps shine a spotlight on our firm as it gives us greater access to opportunities with corporations that want to work with a certified veteran business,” Dunlap said.

Of four managing partners at DBL, Dunlap and Ellis Bennett are both veterans of the U.S. Army. Bennett served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corp and served as a military prosecutor and defense attorney at Army bases in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, and Cuba. Five other members of the DBL firm are also veterans.

As a certified VBE, DBL’s business profile will be listed on the nonprofit’s searchable database. DBL will also have access to the NaVOBA’s network of partner organizations that provide services, programs, education, and training to help veteran businesses launch and grow their companies.
